These swallows were made from recycled fishing net collected on the Isle of Ulva whilst beach cleaning with the Scottish Coastal Clean Up Initiative. The orange net collected and shown when recycled and pelletised became black due to the black pigments in the net and string. A bit like mixing paint - mix of all the colours combined during recycling came out Matt black.
